Lot Description

A Victorian silver cream jug the body with wide diaper embossing, shell spout with scroll edged decoration, gilt interior, raised on a circular base. Hallmarked London 1864. Height measures 3 inches (8 cm), and weighs 4.55 ozt (141.52 grams).

Total lot weight: No

The Victorian silver cream jug is in a fair condition for its age, with surface wear and tear scratches to the silver and some areas of tarnishing commensurate to the age of the piece. The engraved monogram is very rubbed and there is some loss of detail to the embossing due to polishing. There are some shallow dints and some small nicks to the base. The gilt interior is tarnished to the top edge and worn away to the tip of the spout. The jug wobbles very slightly on its base. The solder join to the handle is becoming visible.  There are two repairs between the main body of the jug and the base, they seem to have been done well so are not very noticeable. The hallmark to the base is slightly rubbed but clear and legible.
