Lot Description

A George IV Irish silver Rat tail and Fiddle pattern straining spoon, the terminal with engraved crest for Smythe, County Westmeath, and bowl with pieced strainer. Hallmarked Christopher Eades Dublin 1824 and retailed by Matthew West. Length measures 13 inches (33 cm), weighing 6.31ozt (196.3 grams).

The spoon is generally in good condition with scratches and scuffing commensurate with age and use. There is a small area of flattening to the rat-tail detail and the bowl tip. Crest engraving still nice and clear as are the Hallmarks.
