Lot Description
An early Victorian silver melon shaped teapot with floral and acanthus leaf engraved body and surround to the cartouche with crest and personal initial inscription, floral finial and ivory insulated scroll capped handle and raised above a circular stepped base. Hallmarked Richard Silbey II London 1855. Length including handle and spout measures 11 3/4 inches (30 cm), gross weight 23.48 ozt (730.3 grams).

Condition Report
The Teapot is tarnished with finger marks and general scratches commensurate with age and use. The base sits evenly. Discolouring to the ivory insulators which are also marked but intact. The body and hollow handle have various shallow dents especially to the outer edge and thumb piece, there is also a split to the upper joint where the handle meets the body. Slight rubbing to the patterning, monograms and crests. Spout has slight splitting and distortion. Heavily stained and scaled to the inside.
