Lot Description

Edwardian silver snuff box of rectangular form, foliate scroll engraving and scroll edge, circular cartouche with personal engraving. Hallmarked George Randle Birmingham 1901. Measuring 65 mm by 42 mm, weight 52.6 grams.

The snuff box displays general scratches, marks , wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The engraved decoration and personal inscription have rubbed particularly to the lid. The interior has remnants of previous gilding this has now worn and become discoloured . The lid has also become a little concave in areas. When closed the lid rises slightly from position. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
