Lot Description
Late Victorian silver snuff box of shaped rectangular form, the lid engraved with scrolling motifs surrounding a central vacant cartouche, and with conforming decoration to the underside. Hallmarked William Neale, Chester 1896. Measuring 54mm by 38mm, weight 51.75 grams.

Condition Report
The box displays general wear and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. There are some more noticeable deeper scratches to the gilded interior and also a couple to the vacant cartouche. There is some wear to the engraved decoration, especially to the underside, and general wear around the edges of the box. There are some minor nicks/dints in the metal and also some pin prick marks. The hinge and clasp are in good working order. It is hallmarked to the interior, the full set is clear and legible, as is the part set on the lid. The maker's marks are worn but still legible.
