Lot Description

A 1920's silver cigarette case of rectangular curved hinged form with engine turned decoration, monogrammed cartouche and gilt interior, hallmarked Chester 1926. Together with two further silver examples with scroll engraving, hallmarked Birmingham 1921 and Chester 1915. Gross combined weight 8.8 ozt (275 grams).

All three cigarette cases display general scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The second and third examples with scroll engravings display heavier wear, each with multiple dints and bumps. The clasp to the Chester 1915 example is loose. Two have personal initial engravings, the cartouche to the smallest Birmingham 1921 hallmarked example is vacant. The Chester 1926 example measures approximately 9 cm by 8.5 cm, the Chester 1915 example measures approximately 9 cm by 8.5 cm, the Birmingham 1921 example measures 8 cm by 5.8 cm. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
