A good pair of late 19th century enamelled opera glasses by Lemaire, Paris. Having mother-of-pearl lens borders and focussing wheel, the brass body finely enamelled with 'jewel'-bordered floral panels on a bleu celeste ground with scattered flowers, 4" wide x 3.2" fully extended, (10.5cm x 8cm), in a blue silk-lined black morocco case, the brasswork decorated with Lemaire's trademark insect and LM monogram.

Condition Report
Mother of pearl lens borders are not stamped LEMAIRE PARIS as with previously sold example cited. Jewelling in almopst perfect order with all but one jewels present and only a few discoloured. Small (5mm) flake loss to inner face of one barrel where jewel lost. Otherwise very good order. Case also unmarked except for brasswork - ie no stamps to silk. Case has had a handle (now lacking) and is generally rubbed/scuffed but serviceable..
