Lot Description

A good late Victorian mahogany-cased three-train chiming table clock. Anonymous, circa 1890. Having a 7.5-inch arched brass dial, the silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic minutes plus fleur-de-lis half hour divisions framing a matted centre, beneath three silvered subsidiary seconds dials for Chime/Silent, Slow/Fast and Chime on 8 Bells/Westminster Chime respectively, the chain-driven triple-fusee movement, stamped 41 quarter-chiming on a carillon or on four coiled gongs via a pin-barrel and hour-striking on a fifth, the break-arched case with berry finial to the podium surmount over reeded Corinthian columns flanking a bevelled arch-glazed door with shell and scroll mounts, the fluted frieze on ribbon and floral swag plinth and gadrooned bun feet, 30.5", (77.5cm) high.
