Lot Description

A late 19th century French cast brass wall clock with thermometer, having 4.5" white enamelled Roman dial with moon hands, the two-train bell-striking movement with lever platform escapement, the cast case surmounted by a basket of fruit over zoomorphic foliate scrolls issuing flaming torches and flanking an ethanol thermometer, marked "THERMOMETRE", with Centigrade and Reaumur scale over spiral terminal, the rear cast "DEPOSE" and "LG", 24.5" (62cm) high, sold with winder.

Dial - flake chips around winding squares (especially right), faint crack over hands, haircracking around III, IX and XII.  Movement - sound.  Case-some minor rusting to surmount, minor cracks to thermometer plate, tarnishing to rear cover and bruising to rim of rear cover.
