Lot Description

A late Victorian mahogany-cased Admiral Fitzroy Royal Polytechnic barometer by J. Bailey & Co Licensees, Albion Works, Salford. Having a 9" circular paper register reading from 28 to 31 inches of pressure and with numerous red and black-printed remarks, the exposed main tube over glazed trunk with further Special Remarks, storm warning signals and centigrade ethanol thermometer, printed Design Registration lozenge lower right, the trunk with pointed pediment and carved 'ears' to the drum-head dial housing, over twin adjusting discs and chamfered glazed trunk, 40.75", (103cm) high.
