Lot Description

A good George III mahogany stick barometer by J. Donegan, Bristol circa 1780. Having a hinged glazed cover with silvered scale engraved "J. Donegan BRISTOL" over vernier and scale reading from 27 to 31 inches of pressure, and ethanol Centigrade thermometer, both with remarks, flanking an exposed main tube, the trunk with broken pediment and urn finial over chevron-banded and caddy-moulded body, the hemispherical cistern cover with ebony and boxwood chequer stringing framing mother-of-pearl centre, 39", (99cm) high.
