Lot Description
A possibly George III gilt key wind pair case pocket watch by J Thornton, London, the white enamel dial with black Roman numeral hour markers surrounded by an outer minute track, the cases, the inner gilt, the outer case made of tortoise shell with painted decoration, both with maker's mark WH, fitted with a signed gilt full plate fusee and chain movement with verge escapement and pierced balance cock. Outer case diameter 48mm. Watch A/F.

A key wind pocket watch, movement is not functioning, tiny marks and small areas of discolouration on the dial, scratches on the dial, cracks on the dial between five and seven o'clock, wear to the minute track, hands are marked and discoloured, the minute hand is bent, glass is scratched, some of the marks may polish out, chips at the edges of the glass, case shows signs of wear and has medium scratches, areas of discolouration, wear and rubbing to the crown stem and bow, outer case has medium scratches caused by general wear.
