Lot Description

A German  'Vienna' porcelain vase, cover and pedestal of slender twin-handled ovoid urn form, the spreading cover with gilt cruciform finial, the body with waisted neck over a large panel painted with Cupid, with bow and quiver of arrows, attending a lovesick maiden seated in a clearing, entitled beneath base "Sei Wieder gut!" (trans. 'she was made well again'), the panel within gilt palmette and vine leaf borders, the reverse with further ornate panels, duck egg blue ground vine and greek key friezes, reserved on a jewelled 'rouge royale' ground, raised on a conforming pedestal, entitled as above and numbered '20625 Germany' with blue 'beehive' mark, 16", (41cm) high.

Cover slightly ill-fitting but original. Replaced flake chip to edge. Minor gilt rubbing.
Body has tarnishing to rim gilt. Restoration to a 3cm rim section, plus second discoloured area which has probably had sellotape on it to hold cover in place. Internal staining from water.
