Lot Description

A William IV silver mug, of bulbous, tapering form with acanthus leaf handle, circular foot and scrolling lower body. Personal inscriptions dated 1915 and 1832. Hallmarked Joseph Angell I & John Angell I, London 1830. Maximum height 4 1/2 inches (11.4cm). Weight 6.83 ozt (212.4 grams).

The lot is in fair overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The foot is significantly dented, the piece stands slanted. The rim has some shallow dents. The body has some small dents and a possible small repair with minor pitting. The gilt interior has numerous scratches and there is general slight discolouration. There are two personal inscriptions, the later one copying the style of the contemporary inscription. The hallmarks and makers mark are extremely worn.
