Lot Description

Edwardian silver mounted glass inkwell of square form, with circular silver collar and hinged domed cover with initial engraving.  Hallmarked Mappin & Webb Ltd., Birmingham 1905.  Square base measuring 3 by 3 inches (7.5cm), maximum height 3 1/4 inches (8cm).

The silver mount is very tarnished and displays general wear and surface marks and scratches.  The hinged cover is in good working order.  Hallmarks slightly rubbed but still clear and legible, also stamped Mappin & Webb below the hinge.  Part hallmarks to the interior of the lid, date letter is quite distorted.  The glass has general surface marks and scratches all over and several small edge nicks.  There are also some larger edge chips to the glass, especially to three of the base corners.  Several deeper scratches to the underside.
