Lot 404

Lot Description

Continental ink stand modelled to the centre with a man seated on a beer barrel and holding a tankard in one hand and a bottle in the other, with twin bucket style inkwells on either side, all fitted on a shaped oblong base with a pen rest to the fore and a single scrolled handle to the rear.  Impressed mark to the underside, possibly reads V750.  Maximum length of base measures 4 3/8 inches (11cm), weight 113.8 grams.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Ink stand is quite heavily tarnished all over and displays general wear and surface marks and scratches.  Both bucket inkwells are loose in their fittings and one has come off completely.  The man seated on the barrel is also quite loose in its fitting, as the screw on the base on his foot is missing the end piece.  The base displays a number of splits in the metal, around the shaped rim and also around the screw holes, which are now quite big.  Some solder marks are also visible to the underside.
