Lot Description

Continental sauce boat and stand, both of oval form with conforming borders of formalised decorative motifs, the sauce boat also with a panel of scrolling foliage and flowers around the short stem to the footed base, the handle with foliate, shell and scroll detail to the base leading to a zoomorphic terminal, engraved coat of arms to one side of the sauce boat and to the raised rim of the stand.  Length of stand measures 10 1/2 inches (26.5 cm), maximum height of sauce boat including handle measures 8 1/4 inches (21 cm).

Both items display general wear, surface marks and scratches and some tarnishing.  Some deeper scratches in places, and also various minor nicks and small surface dints in the metal.  There is also some pitting in the metal  to the main body of the sauce boat.  There is a small deeper nick to the centre part of the stand, which is visible to both sides.  Two struck marks to the underside of the sauce boat, which are difficult to read.
