Lot 450

Lot Description

Small Oriental lidded jug, probably Japanese, of plain cylindrical form with loop handle and flat hinged cover with shaped thumb piece, character marks to the underside, one is possibly the Japanese 'jungin' character mark for the Meiji period (1868-1912), height measures 4 1/4 inches (11 cm);  together with a pair of plain sugar nips, impressed Sterling 950 Okubo, and two novelty peppers, both modelled in the form of an oriental structure and stamped sterling to the underside.  Gross combined weight 198 grams. (4).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

All four items display general wear, some tarnishing and surface marks and scratches.  The jug has numerous deeper scratches and marks and small surface dints and nicks and spots of tarnishing.  Solder is visible at both joins of the handle to the main body.  Hinged cover is in working order.  Marks to the underside are legible.  Sugar nips display edge nicks and some deeper scratches in places, especially on the curved section, which is also slightly misshapen.  Both the novelty peppers are quite heavily tarnished, some solder marks visible.
