A George II silver bun top caster, of baluster form, on circular ringed foot, with pierced lid and walking eagle crest. Hallmarked George Greenhill Jones, London 1737. Length 3 1/4 inches (8.3cm). Weight 2.49 ozt (77.4 grams).

The sifter is in fair to good overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The hallmarks are worn but legible. The crest may be a later addition. The lid has been re-attached to its rim, with a small split still visible. Very slight filing to the foot rim.
