Lot Description

George II silver goblet, the bell shape body with gilded interior, raised above a waisted stem and leading to a spreading circular foot, later embossed with floral and fruiting vine panels and later engraved with personal initials and date.  Hallmarks are partly obscured but probably London 1737, maker's mark possibly RR or RB.  Height measures 5 7/8 inches (15 cm), weight 5.49 ozt (170.7 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The goblet displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Deeper scratches visible to some areas, especially to the rounded underside of the main body.  There are also several slight surface dints, especially to the stem.  Main rim is very slightly misshapen and there is a much larger knock to one side of the foot rim, causing it to be slightly upturned.  Wear to gilding to the interior.  Hallmarks are partly obscured in places.
