Lot Description

A Japanese Meiji period ivory okimono. Modelled as a flower-seller, holding a bunch of flowers, standing upon a rock, in turn upon a hardwood stand, overall height 10.6", (27cm).

Decoration to figure appears to follow four natural flaws in the ivory. Peg hole to side of right knee. Faint haircrack over one eyebrow. Two cracks to vase. Feet appear unfinished (toes not carved). Figure is glued on to base.
