A composite 18th century and later oak longcase clock, having a 10.75" arched dial, the silvered Roman chapter ring with half hour divisions and inner quarter hour track, framing a single hand, the arch with silvered boss engraved 'James Langwith York', the movement with four knopped and finned pillars, count wheel striking on a bell. the case with swan neck pediment and brass ball and spire finials over blind fretwork turned columns with brass capitals, ogee arced long trunk door between quadrant columns and a plain base on bracket feet, 84" (213.5cm) high, sold with weight and pendulum

Condition Report
Dial is composite - plate is irregular size, chapter ring and single hand too early for arched dial. Boss engraving looks later. Whole has been lacquered. Movement ok but pillars trimmed. Case is late 18th century with later central finials. Splits to fretwork. Loose hood door with cracked glass. Later moulding to top of base, wide joint split to base panels.
