Lot Description

A good mid 18th century black lacquered chinoiserie longcase clock with moon phase

Dial good but arch narrows towards apex - decoration narrows to reflect this so likely original. Chapter ring loose to one side.
Movement appears sound.
Hood possibly altered - moulding looks later, may have had a swan neck. Crack to arch moulding. Crack to joint of one side panel. Probably repainting to decoration. Crack to arch of door. Trunk otherwise basically good but sides perhaps refreshed. Flake and scratch to base. Plinth base - may have had feet. Overall - case restored.
