Lot Description

A pair of Victorian silver candlesticks of fluted baluster form, decorated in high relief with scrolling shells, filled. Hallmarked Thomas Bradbury & Son, Sheffield 1862. Height measuring 9 inches (23 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Total lot weight: No

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. There is some minor dents. Some areas of the high decoration have completely worn through, particularly on the base and one sconce. Some of the decoration has lost definition. One of the sconces is hallmarked 1860 and the second although matching appears to have a later Thomas Bradbury & Son Ltd maker's mark (1905..1952), City and passant but no date letter. The hallmarks are quite worn and distorted, one particularly worn.
