Lot 439

Lot Description

A 1930's set of three silver darts, each with engine turned banded decoration and engraved 'Mercury Darts', with blue painted wood and feather terminals, in original fitted presentation case from The Kentish Mercury. Darts hallmarked David Hollander & Son, Birmingham 1938. Dart length measures 5 1/4 inches (13.5 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The darts display general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use.  There is also some tarnishing to the silver sections.  There is some loss of detail to the engine turned decoration on one of the darts.  The wooden terminals screw on and off, however one of them is now very loose and can be easily removed.  There is also a small gouge in the wood on this terminal.  Some damage and wear to the feathers.  General wear to the case and the hinges are broken.  The top of the case reads 'The Kentish Mercury Silver |Darts Awarded to J.Higgins.'
