Condition Report
Both items display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The cigarette case displays numerous deeper scratches and nicks throughout, also many small surface dints and bumps. There is considerable wear and loss of detail to some areas of the engine turned decoration, and also to the engraved monogram. Rounding to edges and corners. The hinges are working but the clasp is not. The inscription to the interior reads 'Presented to E.A Wood by his colleagues at Buckingham Palace on his retirement 1943.' The hallmarks are clear and legible. There is considerable wear to the plating on the coin holder, so that the base metal is showing through.
