Lot Description
A Victorian silver snuff box of oblong form with concave edge, scroll rim, engine turned decoration and presentational inscription, the lid opening to reveal a silver-gilt interior. Hallmarked Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham 1848. Length measuring 8.5 cm, weight 125 grams.

Condition Report
The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Wear to the engine turned decoration on the base. The lid rises very slightly on the left hand side in the closed position. Presentation inscription reads 'Presented to Mr. Richard Phillips, As a small token of the esteem and respect of a few friends. In Barrow in Furness. January 1869.'. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
