Lot Description
A mid 18th century gilt key wind pair case pocket watch by John Barber, Stratford, the white dial with hourly applied black Roman numerals, surrounded by a minute track with Arabic divisions at five minute intervals, ornately decorated round case, fitted with a signed full plate fusee and chain movement with verge escapement and pierced balance cock. Outer case diameter 48mm.

Condition Report
Key wind pair case pocket watch, 18th century Verge escapement, movement is currently running intermittently, balance seems to be complete but the movement would benefit from a service, fusee chain appears to be intact, movement screws show signs of superficial wear, inner case/movement hinge seems in reasonable condition, dial shows noticeable marking and scratching and is discoloured, hands are fairly worn, hour hand appears to be missing a small section from the tip is slightly distorted, glass shows surface scratches from general wear and is held into the bezel fairly loosely, inner case shows signs of wear with scratching around the hinge, outer case details heavily rubbed, outer case back contains retailer's details on a piece of paper some small sections of which are missing, outer hinge appears to be intact. Bow appears to be secure and is showing signs of general wear.
