A Japanese Meiji period ivory okimono of a spear fisherman, modelled in standing pose with a child upon his right shoulder holding a basket of fish, the fisherman holds a bamboo handled spear with entwined rope and two fish, on naturalistic rocky base. The separate plinth with incised red two character signature. 12", (30.5cm) high.

Crack to rocky base beneath right foot, old split to one side, old break to left ankle, a number of grey aged cracks to back of both figures, plinth loose and one dowel is broken.
