Lot 26

Lot Description

A George IV silver christening mug, embossed with a band of Tudor Rose motifs above an engraved monogram and a lobed lower body, acanthus moulded handle and footed base. Hallmarked Joseph Angell I, London 1821. Height measures 3 1/8 inches (8 cm), weight 4 ozt (125 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The item displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  It would benefit from a clean and polish.  Some slight surface dints and bumps, especially some visible to the lobed section.  There is a large split in the metal around the top of the short stem.  Knocks to the foot rim so that it is slightly misshapen and the jug wobbles slightly when standing.  The hallmarks are slightly rubbed but still legible.
