Lot 469

Lot Description

A German silver box, of lobed form with a raised central panel embossed with flowers, to the scrolling embossed sides, stamped to the underside with the Reichsmark of a star and crescent moon. Together with a Dutch oval box box with an image of two women at work in a harbour setting, with the maker's stamp 'H.H' and a Dutch double-sided stamp box, with embossed scenes to both sides opening to reveal a compartmentalised interior, with Dutch sword standard mark. Gross weight 171.4 grams. (3).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Amendment to the previous description and printed catalogue description that the oval box is actually Dutch and is struck with the Dutch Lion Passant mark.  The overall condition of each box appears fair.  They all display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Remnants of polish and some loss of surface detail to raised decoration.  The German lobed box displays yellowish colour patches, possibly remnants of gilding?  The lid rises slightly in the closed position.  The hinged lid of the oval box is a little loose and overhangs a little when in the closed position.
