Lot Description

A George II silver mug of plain, slightly tapered form, with a scrolling capped handle and central crest engraving, to the circular stepped base with personal inscription to the underside. Hallmarked William Paradise, London 1728. Height 4 7/8 inches (12.5 cm), weight 12.36 ozt   (350.5 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with age and use. There are several deeper dents to the main body and one to the base, therefore wobbles slightly. The handle is slightly off centre. There is only minor rubbing to the armorial, the personal inscription is clear and legible as are the hallmarks, the maker's mark is partially obscured but identifiable. Date letter stamped twice. In amendment to the previously published description the maximum height is 4 7/8 inches (12.5 cm).
