Lot Description

Two early eighteenth century silver spoons, to include a rat tail with E*S monogram, together with a Hanoverian spoon monogrammed WM. One hallmarked E* with lion surmount, possibly Edward Pocock, London 1729. Lengths 8 3/16 and 7 15/16 inches (20.9 and 20.3 cm). Weight 4.23 ozt (131.7 grams).

Good overall condition with scratches, small dents and tarnish in keeping with age and use. Both bowls show slight wear to the rims on one side. Hanoverian spoon with slight shallow dent showing where the bowl joins to the stem. Rat tail spoon with marks possibly for Edward Pocock, marks only partially struck, at angles, across the lower part of the handle. Hanoverian spoon marks slightly obscured, include lion passant, crowned leopard head, a capital "A" date letter (possibly 1716). The maker's mark is obscured, worn. Moderate tarnish, slight black spot.
