Lot Description
A Charles II pair of silver Trefid spoons with reeded rat-tail, crested terminal and 'A' engraved to the terminal reverse. Hallmarked London 1668, leopard's head almost completely erased, with the maker's mark BP, escallop below. Length measuring 7 1/8 inches (18 cm), weight 3.4 ozt (107.5 grams).

Condition Report
The spoons displays general scratches, marks and wear. Heavy tarnishing. Significant file mark and acid test to the lower front stems and also to one on the reverse of the bowl. Crests rubbed. Repair and crack to the front join of the stem to the bowl one one. Striking edge of the bowls has worn down with slight dinting to these edges. Rattail rubbed with distinct loss of definition. Trefid terminal bent forward. The hallmarks appear in varied state, the date letter very clearly struck the lion passant and maker's mark both a little rubbed, leopard's head almost completely removed.
