Lot Description

A Victorian cased silver scent bottle by Sampson Mordan, the cylindrical silver-gilt body engraved with an illustration of children playing and floral band, the domed hinged cover opening to a glass stopper. In original fitted case. Hallmarked Sampson Mordan & Co, London 1884. Height measuring 5.5 cm.

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.

Wear to the gilding in high contact areas. Slight dents to the bottom rim. Hinge and clasp in good working order. Hallmarks a little worn but clearly legible. Significant wear to the inner case with the fitted surround split in a number of places, the outer clasp also not working.
