Great War, family association medals comprising Memorial Plaque named to 'Howard Burgess', 1914-15 Star named to '1466 L. Cpl H. Burgess. Ches. R.', Record Office note dated 13th April 1921 conferring the deceased, H. Burgess, 50152, Cheshire Regiment, entitlement to the 1914-15 Star, postage packaging addressed to the recipient's mother 'Mrs M A Burgess, 21 Moor St, Congleton', further Great War Pair, British War Medal 1914-20, Victory Medal both named to 'S-361971 Pte. W. H. Burgess. A.S.C.', in original postage box addressed to 'Mr. W H Burgess, 21 Moor St, Congleton', further family association sundries to include parchment discharge certificate for William Burgess of 28 Brunswick St, Congleton, age 31, discharged on the 10th August 1894 and memorial card for William Henry Burgess, dated March 1895.
Howard Burgess, 50152, Cheshire Regiment, 9th Battalion, is recorded as being killed in action on the 28th of September 1918, the British Army WWI Medal Rolls Index Cards list Howard Burgess, Cheshire Regiment with both regimental numbers 1466 and 50152. The 1911 census records Mary Ann Burgess (54), Howard Burgess (17) and William Henry Burgess (15) at the address 28 Brunswick St, Congelton.
