Lot Description

A Turkish silver dish of octagonal sided form with stylised foliate piercing to each panel and everted rim with applied shell and scroll border, and having a plain liner, the whole raised above a footed base with bead decoration and a foliate scroll edge.  Struck three times to the vase and once to the liner with the Tughra Mark of the Sultan and the Standard mark for either .800 or .900 fineness (pre-1923 marks).  Height measures 4 1/4 inches (10.7 cm), gross weight 11.92 ozt (370.6 grams).

The item displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Remnants of polish are visible.  Some small gouges visible.  The liner is plain and displays several surface dints.  Some rubbing to the struck marks but they are all still legible.
