Lot Description

A George III silver wine funnel of classic form with detachable sieve. Hallmarked London 1790, probably Thomas Oliphant (Ollivant). Height measuring 4 1/4 inches (11 cm), weight 1.7 ozt (54 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.

Numerous dints and bumps. repairs visible to the sieve lip and clip, the circular shape also a little distorted. Hallmarks to the sieve body appear worn, only the very remnants of a maker's mark visible and possibly a T, hallmarks to the detachable funnel appear only as the maker's mark TO and the lion passant only.
