Lot Description

A Sampson Mordan 9ct gold mounted pencil with an extending 'flick' action, engine turned decoration surrounding a vacant oval cartouche. Impressed mark 'S. Mordan & Co. Patent', also marked '9ct', the extending section further marked with the 9ct gold standard mark and incised 'SA'.  Length when extended measures 4 7/8 inches (12.3 cm).

The pencil appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing.  A few heavier scratches, marks and nicks to the metal are visible.  The extending flick action appears in working order, however the lead is deficient.  All marks are legible.
