Lot Description

A silver presentation cigarette case, of rectangular form, the engine turned bi-colour case with silver-gilt interior and presentation inscription from the Liverpool Master Pork Butchers Association, together with a curved rectangular-shape cigarette case with scrolling foliate engraving. Hallmarked D Bros, Birmingham 1955 and Henry Matthews, Birmingham 1897. Lengths 3 1/4 and 4 7/8 inches (8.3 and 12.5 cm). Gross weight 9.13 ozt (284 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Smaller case has significant dents and slight black spotting. Monogrammed, possibly CJB. Presentation inscription to larger reads "Presented to F.H. Hall Eso, by the, Liverpool Master Pork Butchers Association, To commemorate his appointment, as Chairman of the, National Federation (Pork and Bacon Section), 1958." Hallmarks clear.
