Lot Description
A William IV silver vinaigrette by Nathaniel Mills, the oblong form with punched and stippled borders and a floral sprig to the base, the hinged lid with raised floral and foliate border enclosing further foliate motifs and initialled central panel, opening to reveal a silver-gilt grille pierced with scrolling foliage around a central flower. Hallmarked Birmingham 1833. Measuring 3 cm by 2.2 cm, weight 11 grams.

Condition Report
The vinaigrette displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Several deeper scratches and marks are visible, also a couple of minor surface dints/bumps. Some slight loss of detail to decoration. Hinges appear in working order. Possible small repairs around main hinges as floods of solder visible, particularly on one end. Some wear and tarnishing to gilded interior. The hallmarks appear rubbed but still legible.
