Giulio Monteverde (1837-1917)

A good late 19th century Italian bronze donated by the King of Italy, modelled as an angel or putto seated atop a pedestal, holding a crank handle to operate a rudder, the frilled base signed 'Monteverde Roma', the pedestal incised 'DONA DE S.M.IL RE GIOVEDI 30 MAGGIO 1901 AL.R.CLUB CANOTTIERI DI TEVERE' (Given by his Majesty the King, Race of Fortune Garden Party, 30th May 1901, at the Canottieri del Tevere Rowing Club) 21.25 (54cm) high.
