A George II silver caster, the baluster body standing on a circular footed base, pierced detachable cover and baluster finial. Hallmarked London, struck three times with the maker's mark S.W, attributed to Samuel Wood. Height measuring 7 inches (17.5 cm), weight 8.5 ozt (265 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. A number of dents. No engravings. Damage and repairs around the girdle. Only part hallmarks visible, the maker's mark struck three times over-stamps the lion passant, part leopards head visible, no maker's mark.  Maker's mark only to the cover, no hallmarks.
