Lot 377

Lot Description

A continental jewellery casket, the stepped rectangular outline with curved sides and embossed with bird head motifs amidst trailing foliage and against a stippled ground, the hinged cover with hammered finish and conforming foliate decoration and opening to reveal a velvet lined interior with a removable tray, the whole standing on four corner scroll feet. Maximum length measures 8 inches (20.5 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The casket displays general surface scratches, marks, and wear, commensurate with the age and use. There is some quite heavy tarnishing and it would benefit from a clean and polish. Heavier marks and scratches to some areas and a couple of slight dints/knocks. Hinged lid appears in working order. The material lining appears quite faded and discoloured. Appears unmarked.
