Lot Description

A large Victorian silver cream jug, with a shaped rim above a fluted bulbous body embossed with flowers, foliage and scroll motifs, foliate moulded handle and raised above four splayed scroll feet. Hallmarked Samuel Hayne & Dudley Cater, London 1855. Maximum height measures 6 inches (15.2 cm), weight 8.07 ozt (251 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The jug displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some minor dints. Solder repairs to one side of the lower body, the metal appears lumpy in this area. Slightly uneven feet so that it wobbles a little when in the standing position. The hallmarks are clear and legible, maker's mark slightly distorted but still legible.
