Lot Description

A late 19th century gem and enamel brooch. The pear-shape foil-back garnet, to the split pearl line and green enamel stylised bow surmount. Replacement gems and enamel. Length 4.5cms. Weight 11.7gms.

Overall condition good to fair. Surface scratches and discolouration in keeping with general wear. The hinge shows evidence of soft solder repair. The garnet has a fairly bright slightly dark colour, with typical inclusions. The split pearls are fairly well matched with a white to silvery white body colour. The enamel is in good condition.
