Lot Description

A Victorian silver mounted claret jug, the tapered cylindrical body, raised on a ribbed foot ring, with scrolling glass handle and silver floral embossed mount, hinged lid and spout. Hallmarked Cartwright & Woodward, Birmingham 1865. Height 12 inches (30.5 cm).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Mount possibly re-applied. Mount with minor holes to the raised areas. Oval-shape crest to one side, engraved with a lion rampant. Possible small repair near hallmarks. Hallmarks show slight wear, legible.
