Lot Description

A matched Victorian silver christening set in fitted case, the spoon and fork decorated with foliate motifs and with engraved initials to the reverse terminal, hallmarked Chawner & Co (George William Adams), London 1870, the knife with mother of pearl handle and initialled silver blade hallmarked George Unite & Sons, Birmingham 1870. Total lot weight: No

The three pieces all display general wear including surface scratches and marks commensurate with the age and use. Quite heavy tarnishing is visible to some areas and they would all benefit from a clean and polish. Some grounding down but the spoon bowl has faired quite well. The fork tines are slightly uneven in length and the two outer ones are leaning in slightly. The knife blade is also a little bent with nibbles around the edge. Gaps visible at the joins of the ferrule. The hallmarks are all clear and legible.
