A George III silver swing handled sugar basket, of fluted oval and pedestal form with simple reed borders. Hallmarked London 1786, the maker probably Charles Chesterman II. Maximum height measuring 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm), weight 5.53 ozt (172 grams).

The basket displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.

A little rubbing and loss of definition. Visible solder to a join on the handle. Small cracks to the body around the join of the handle. No visible engravings. Hallmarks a little rubbed but legible.
