Lot Description
An Edwardian 18ct gold emerald and diamond brooch. The oval-shape diamond collet and old-cut diamond scalloped surround, with vari-shape emerald and old-cut diamond line sides, to the tapered bar with further rectangular-shape emerald accent. Principal diamond chipped. Estimated dimensions of principal diamond: 5.8 by 5, by 3.1mms, estimated J-K colour, P1 clarity. Maker's mark 'West & Son'. Length 6.3cms. Weight 6gms.
West & Son were one of Irelands oldest jewellery companies, having opened in 1720, they were patronised by royalty and nobility alike before closing in 2010.

Condition Report
The lot is in good to fair overall condition with light scratches in keeping with general wear. Stamped 18ct. The principal diamond is chipped to the girdle. Traces of gilt finish. Slight pitting to mounts. The diamonds appear bright and well matched. Most individual diamonds too small to accurately assess colour/clarity grades. Small, scattered inclusions. The emeralds appear a well matched medium deep slightly bluish green hue. Few surface reaching inclusions, minor nicks and slight facet-edge abrasion. Small length of chain suspended from diamond surround.
